Tawq is an Arabic word with layered meaning. Written as “توق”, it speaks to longing - a deep, emotional yearning for beauty, identity, connection. But written as “طوق”, it means a loop, a collar - something wrapped around the neck.

That dual meaning stuck with me. Because a hijab does exactly that; it wraps around us physically, but also carries our story, our mood, our presence. Tawq was never just a name. It was a feeling. A desire to be seen. A way to express who you are. A quiet statement wrapped in beauty and purpose.
